DH really killed my interest in HP and I haven't touched the books or the fandom since, but last year I went back and reread all the books.

They held up really well, and I enjoyed DH a bit better the second time around. The fandom, on the other hand... I've gone back to a lot of old fandoms over the years, but HP is the only fandom where rereading old favs was cringe-inducing for me. Nothing about it captured the magic of the books, imo.

I'm used to going back to an old fandom and thinking 'wow this fic is pretty bad. I definitely see these characters different now!' With HP it was more like 'OMG what the fuck is even happening here? That's supposed to be Ron? Since when does Dumbledore allow student/teacher relationships?! What's going on in this fic?!?!?!'
