It comes in cans and I don't have the most refined tastes, but I loved that stuff. You can even get it hot! Or convenience stores. When we were feeling cheap, we'd just buy some coffees and hang out in a park. Since there are loads of beautiful parks, this is much more fun, imo. If you're there three months you'll get to catch the autumn leaves on the trees, which is almost as exciting in Japan as sakura season.
I never shopped at a thrift store, but I should think changing rooms would be a thing? They certainly are in any other clothing store. Maybe just ask if they have one? But no idea. There are some pretty big flea markets and such as well you could check out.
