And yes, his happiness is infectious. He loves what he does and it shows.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-17 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)I've always admired Stephen's focus on joy and happiness, and his lack of cynicism about things in general. It's refreshing.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-18 01:34 am (UTC)(link)And on days the real world news was utterly shitty, he always found ways to either address it in honest yet hopeful ways, or just found ways to make people laugh and get their minds off the crap they dealt with in the real world for half an hour.
I'm a generally optimistic person, so I'm always happy when I see other people with that worldview (I certainly understand the pessimistic/cynical mindset, though, of course, and some days it's hard to keep myself from not going to that attitude!). And like you said, I like that we're in general agreement politically, too. As for being hopeful about the future, I think he has the same reasoning I do-I just always think about all the other horrible stuff people have managed to get through and survive in the past, and figure, if they managed to make it through their hellish experiences, we'll be able to as well. It may take a while, sure, and it won't always be pretty, but I like to think we'll get there eventually :).
