Though I have a lot of issues with tumblr I agree that it seems I meet people much easier over there. It's also easier to find people who share your interests or just talk to them anonymously if you are shy.

From what I remember of LJ everything was friendlocked and you have to jump through several hoops to join certain communities to actually meet anybody, some communities felt elitist and unwelcoming. I don't remember ever talking to that many people on LJ, all my posts were probably never even read I was just typing into the void.

Tumblr is a lot more open and encouraging to meet and follow other people. Also I know my posts will definitely be read by followers or people who follow specific tags since many friendly strangers and followers will like/reblog my posts or send me a message if I have questions about something.
