Seconding the above anon - no one is gonna go through the trouble to send you fake nice messages. If someone takes the time to send you a nice message, it's because they want to say something nice to you. What other motive would they have? This isn't RL where people have great motivation to be fake-nice to get favors and shit. Get the fuck over yourself.

I didn't tell anybody why I closed my askbox, I didn't make drama. If I'm happier like this, what do you care? I draw my art and people reblog and nobody has to get stressed out.

It's like people asking "how are you" when they don't actually care. Everybody knows it's meaningless etiquette. tumblr is a hugbox so people send cutesy messages. I'd rather just talk to my actual friends.

FWIW as someone who does leave anon niceness? I totally get you and I suspect the other anons are partly reacting because they don't want to admit the above can be true or that random niceness is, well, random and don't take much effort.

Seriously though, as someone who does send niceness anon? It /is/ a great way to send support to someone, but let's not pretend anon has no reason to feel what they do. I don't feel any ~deep connection~ when I leave the niceness nor do I expect it to have a long lasting effect, especially if it's a "general" niceness.

Besides... there's plenty of people who do it just to pat their backs and brag to their friends about this.
