When I was 13-14 and was writing a "fantasy novel" with a friend, we went to sleep outside for one night without tent or anything because hey, we make the characters sleep outside all the time on their journey, we need to know what it's like! Afterwards, we felt very sorry for our character because it was wet and cold and the bugs were fucking annoying.

I also spent a day in a falconry once. That was awesome.
