If you don't care for the character, that's fine...

...but don't you think the "looking up pictures for this secret makes me sick" bit is kind of a little overdramatic?

Not OP, but it's not necessarily being dramatic. Especially if they were sort of forcing themselves to watch, as implied, this could certainly be literally true. My sister got nauseous taking a specific corner in town for years because it was the way she used to go to work, and she *hated* that job by the end. The human body responds in all sorts of interesting ways to stress, depending on the person, and this just might be it for OP.

If it was a reaction to, oh, coming across something here, say, then I would agree with you. Even replying to something here. But in making the secret they are, with forethought, deliberately sinking themselves into something they despise. I don't know about you, but I am terrible at making secrets and it always takes forever. It's not totally unreasonable that by the time they've thought about what they want to say and what they want as the background, they were a bit on a hair trigger.

I haven't liked Root since she first appeared, although I grew to tolerate her, at least, and kept watching. I can obviously understand disliking her, but I can't understand how it would get to that extent. How is she that bad to you, OP, that even just looking at pictures of her makes you sick?

Well, perhaps this isn't just solely because I dislike her character, it may be because she symbolizes everything that I've been starting to hate about the show altogether. I know I'm in minority here, but I don't appreciate what they did to the show in S4, how much they retconned a lot of things and I don't like how important they made Root (I'd be fine with her being a proper villain, but not this) -- but, if only I didn't find her so obnoxious I could still enjoy the show.

So, yes, looking up pictures of Root makes me sick, because she's the reason I can't enjoy the show I once loved dearly anymore and that just makes me, well, sad. So I made this secret because I had to vent somewhere (I'll still get bashed, but, hey, at least it's anonymous).

I can understand you guys liking her, though. People were telling Michael Emerson they had to quit LOST because they couldn't stand him and that's something I could never relate to, so I can understand people not relating to my dislike of Amy Acker. *shrug*

That makes sense. I only just started poking about with this show-I caught a couple episodes on WGN recently from the beginning of the series. But I was also hopped up with a cold/fever and found it kind of hard to properly concentrate on the show at the time.

But there's a local affiliate that will start showing reruns this weekend, too. So I'm going to try rewatching again from the beginning. I've heard there does seem to be something of a dividing line for fans with this show-the people who like the first couple seasons or so and the people who seem to like the show's entire run in general. So I'm kinda curious as to which camp I'll wind up in.

I'm sorry the show doesn't seem to be doing it for you anymore. I've yet to have that happen with the shows I watch, but I don't doubt it would be a sad feeling, especially if you were so invested up to a certain point.
