Re: Rant Thread

"Step on a Lego" is synonymous with Tumblr-level whiny bunself "friendly reminder!! uwu!!" obnoxiousness and should be stopped by any means necessary

Re: Rant Thread

(Anonymous) 2015-10-03 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
When the alternative is "die in a fire", I think we generally agree on the Lego version here.

Re: Rant Thread

(Anonymous) 2015-10-03 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
I mean, "die in a fire" sucks too, but that doesn't make the Lego thing any less annoying

It makes them sound like infants and I immediately stop taking anything they say seriously because of it

What would be a good replacement phrase, in your opinion?

DA

(Anonymous) 2015-10-03 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't really matter because the replacement phrase would eventually annoy someone and we'd get the same "DON'T YOU THAT PHRASE ABLOOBLOOBLOOBLOO" that we're getting now, haha

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2015-10-03 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
that's why we need to keep brainstorming new ones tho

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2015-10-03 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Or maybe, just maybe, people can stop fucking being entitled and ordering someone not to use a word because it annoys them.

Like how fucking self absorbed do you have to be?

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2015-10-03 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Or we could just not have phrases like that, that'd be cool too

Re: Rant Thread

(Anonymous) 2015-10-03 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Tbh I've never understood why arguments have to come down to "choice phrases" in the first place, like gather your thoughts and make a point, and if you feel like exiting just say so instead of trying to sound like you got the last word

Re: Rant Thread

(Anonymous) 2015-10-03 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Some people use it in a joking way, and every single person who uses it isn't associated with any of that.

The phrase itself is not hurting anyone. "Needs to be stopped by any means necessary" Or how about you get over your whiny self and learn to be an adult and deal with people using terms you may not like without being a big entitled diva about it.

You're fucking embarrassing.

Re: Rant Thread

(Anonymous) 2015-10-03 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Holy shit, don't take me so seriously lol, I don't literally mean I'm gonna go out and bitch at people saying it

It's a rant thread, I'm ranting, ta-daaa

DA

By coming in to someone else's rant and obnoxiously defending want they're ranting about you come across like a devil's advocating shitstain. Knock it off.

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2015-10-03 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Okay but why would you ever expect there to not be disagreement in a rant thread

And cool it with the name-calling, no one's been doing that here but you

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2015-10-03 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Because maybe some people just want to blow off steam without needing to debate someone.

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2015-10-03 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
So say so, it's really not that hard

Options include "Gotta get this off my chest, not looking for feedback or debate, but if you wanna commiserate that's cool", or if you don't feel like prefacing a rant then there's always just not replying to a disagreement

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2015-10-03 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
I kinda think that should go unsaid in a rant thread.

Who wants to rant about something they're annoyed or fed up with only to have to argue about it with someone?

Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2015-10-03 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Fair point, I'll keep it in mind from now on

I just tend to assume everything's open for discussion/argument unless stated otherwise, but I can see where you're coming from

(Anonymous) 2015-10-03 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Is "uwu" onomatopoeia here?
Seen it around but never had the chance to ask.

Re: Rant Thread

(Anonymous) 2015-10-03 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
It's a emoticcon. u's are closed eyes and the w is a pointy cat mouth.

Thank you!
Geez, I feel so behind with the times.

What if you really do want them to step on a lego though? Whenever I use that phrase, I really want the person it's directed to feel minor, but intense agony for a few moments. I don't care enough to wish them dead, but I do wish them to feel pain and misery.

I'd be satisfied if they stubbed their toe on the coffee table too.

I don't deny it. Hell, I'm even chortling gleefully and twirling an imaginary mustache in another thread. I am evil incarnate.
