Well, Steve is sort of a snarky asshole.

And I expect Bruce and Tony are probably into different nerdy pursuits. I imagine Tony would be more of a video gamer (I mean playing a TABLETOP paper game?).

Natasha isn't into nerdy pursuits. She is into creating identities.

And Bucky is there to play off of Steve.

Well, Tony Steve is sort of a snarky asshole.

I'm just +1ing you here because man is it annoying when people forget Steve isn't some super sweet goody-two-shoes.

^^ It annoys me so much that the movies kind of killed Steve's sense of humor. Steve is kind of snarky, okay.

You don't think he's snarky in the movies? I just roll my eyes when they paint him super earnest and gullible. I mean, did they watch Captain America? Either off them? He's always had a smart mouth, and from the comics I've seen that's not contained to the big screen

He did kind of snark around in the movies, but it's not so palpable because the entire cast spout Whedon one-liners whenever the script calls for it, which makes it seem less like a characteristic they have. I know that he's different in the Captain America movies, but then we don't see him working with Tony, who is recognized by all as the chronic mouth-runner, and Steve tends to be presented as a lot more stiff.

Maybe it's just me getting annoyed at fannish portrayals, though, since those tend to further mess with things.

I came away from the films thinking he was an uptight straight man. No offense, but he really didn't snark around much compared to the other characters. I think you had to be watching him a lot more closely (as I'm sure people who adored his character might?) to see his humorous side, but more neutral parties like myself didn't perceive it as much.

I think Steve's actually the Avenger who makes me laugh the most in the movies. Natasha and Bruce are more serious (which isn't to say they don't come out with some very funny lines on occasion); most of Thor's humor is fish-out-of-water stuff which can be amusing but usually isn't enough to make me giggle; Tony's humor sometimes hits the spot for me but more often makes me eyeroll; and Hawkeye's just kind of...there. Steve, otoh, is snarky and hilarious.

Steve's snarky, but not an asshole. There's a difference.

Yes, you just did.

But Natasha is *nerdy* - she was *so* excited to explain 'War Games' to Steve in the Zola bunker!
