F!S Anon Meme (the ??th!)

F!S Anon Meme (the ??th!)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required.
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff. If you want me to link your thread up here, drop a link in the first comment!

General:
Halloween costumes

Fandom-general:
Porn comics
F/F recs
Guilty pleasures

Fandom-specific:

Read/review and write fic, and participate in fandom discussions where possible. I'm not on Tumblr or Twitter, but I go to sites like TV Line and SpoilerTV and join in fandom discussion there, or talk with fans I meet through the fic writing side of things. If there's message boards I go to those sometimes, too, and occasionally pop into any Live Journal conversations I can find that are still active. I'm also writing reviews for one of the shows I watch ("Criminal Minds"), and that's a good way to get some fandom discussion going, too.

I LOVE fandom discussion and miss it so much. That's really what I'm in fandom for above all else, so it's depressing that it's so hard to find anymore.

(And I hate when you ask where the discussion is at fan comms and they act like you're speaking Martian. It's a fan community. I assumed there would be fans here.)

I love it, too. It's rare that I find anyone in my town who even knows about the shows I like, let alone likes them, and those that do watch the same shows as me don't get as fannish about them as I do. They watch, but they don't do the fic writing thing or get into deep discussion of character dynamics or shipping or character studies or all that sort of stuff.

So going online is my best bet to find other fans who focus on and enjoy that side of things as much as I do. And you're right about the depressing realization that sometimes it's hard to find communities, and good ones at that (or learn there were really hopping communities, but the show's an older one/ended long ago, so the fandom's kind of drifted and some of those communities have died or gone quiet or whatever).

I haven't had the odd reactions you have-in my case it's either a, "I don't really know" or they tell me some options but warn me they might be kind of dead. But yeah, that would be irritating, too-even in this day and age, it's weird that some people don't seem to think about the fact that some fans might be interested in that side of things.
