F!S Anon Meme (the ??th!)

F!S Anon Meme (the ??th!)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required.
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff. If you want me to link your thread up here, drop a link in the first comment!

General:
Halloween costumes

Fandom-general:
Porn comics
F/F recs
Guilty pleasures

Fandom-specific:

i really, really, REALLY wish that filmmakers would stop assuming that

WEIRD = CREEPY SEX STUFF

It doesn't have to and it makes so very sad every time I see that. I want to find the weirdest possible movies I can find, but they really don't have to have creepy sex stuff. That doesn't make your film "weird" and "innovative" if the stuff is there just to be "disruptive" or "challenge people's opinions." At that point, you're just being gross. There are so many so-called strange films I want to see, but I first have to do in-depth research to find out if it's just creepy things happening to people's bodies before I can watch it, and that inevitably lessens the impact of these movies that I would like to go into blind.

Be Sapphire and Steel, not Eyes Wide Shut.

So, how's everyone feeling about the Texas arc? Campfire scene was amazing and I can't wait for the Maya/Lucas slow burn that's about to happen.

IA with this to some extent, having sex in a film isn't necessarily bad but I hate that it's the automatic go-to for 'freaky creepy stuff lul'

Porn comics.

Do you read any? Which ones?

I'm a complete newbie to the genre that has no idea what exists out there.

How do you fandom?

(Anonymous) 2015-10-18 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you write fic? Are you an artist? Do you make fanvids? Cosplay? Fanmixes? Critical analysis? Icons? Or are you a silent particpant?

Comment and make icons. Occasionally make rec lists. (I might as well be a silent participant.)

I write fic (and read and comment on it)

Reading a lot, writing a little, writing even less meta, commenting a bit and have been drawing before.

I think rec lists are cool, especially themed ones (like 'Fluffy fics to read while wrapped up in a blanket sipping hot chocolate'), and I like reading people's comments on the fic/art/whatever that they're commenting on. I wish I could get in on it for my fandoms, but they would probably only consist of a couple of items because yay rare fandoms.

Nowadays, I keep to reading fic, look at fanart and sometimes commenting on stuff. I miss the days where I had the drive and energy to sketch and doodle. ( Used to do a lot of Kita and Mr. Ox (Lordi) and BMFM doodles way back in -06-07.)

anyone up to rule 35 here?

(Anonymous) 2015-10-18 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm dying for some Hiccup/Astrid (HTTYD) and Carrot/Angua (Discworld) porn. Paheal turned out quite disappointing, Deviant Aart contains too much tame stuff to wade through, my search engine didn't find any... do you know some hidden gems I'm missing?

I mostly write drabbles and short one shots. I'd say I comment, but truth to be told, I haven't seen interesting fic in quite a while.

secrets timing étiquette

Need a bit of advice if you please FS.
Last week was posted a secret I could have made, that I really wanted to make. Do you think I can still make my version of it, and if so, how long should I wait so it's not marked as a repeat? or should I just shut it and admit it's done once and for all?

What has been your best time in fandom?

(Anonymous) 2015-10-18 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
What fandom has left you with the fondest memories? Do you wish you could go back to that?

Re: secrets timing étiquette

(Anonymous) 2015-10-18 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
make it again with your own twist? or additional detail

(Anonymous) 2015-10-18 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Make your own, but it shouldn't be a perfect copy. Add your own twist.

Discovering fanfiction! I had been writing it all on my own and was astonished (and somewhat relieved) that it was a huge thing many other people did too.

Also finding a place where the standard pronoun was feminine in discussion and sharing! What a feeling of belonging. It almost makes me want to cry with joy still.

Ditto.

Lurker, always and forever. I'm not a very creative person but I guess I'd love to share some opinions with other fans at some point.

I seldom see themed rec lists, but that's a good idea!

To be honest one of the reasons I like making rec lists is so I'll have everything in one place. Although I like thinking I'm contributing to fandom in some minuscule way, it's almost as much for myself as for others.

So if you feel like putting together a list I say go for it. If nothing else you'll have your favorites in one convenient place.

I occasionally write and post fic. Otherwise, I'm a lurker.
