Still hanging on in fandom (just) but the sting of a really vicious, detailed and personal reply here a while back to a fandom opinion I expressed (not a personal attack in any way, just an opinion), essentially saying that all my fandom contributions were total crap, never really went away.

So, hey, thanks F!S commenter. Thanks a lot. I'm sure you'll be very pleased to know you got me in the end. Enjoy. I was having fun and now I'm not, so your mission is accomplished.

I hate to be the one to tell ya this but, you're probably telling them what they want and encouraging them. Telling them that this is how they can destroy people.

You have to understand that people like this think differently than most people. People who do things like this, they're predatory and they enjoy the idea of power over someone else, the power to discourage someone and make them leave. They want to think they can shut down and destroy people if they don't like them.

It's tempting to think that an angry "look at what you did" will make them feel bad, but, it just doesn't work like that.

Bullies and trolls like this are the ultimate attention whores. They enjoy any acknowledgement and recognition they can get.

If you give them the knowledge that it was them who did this to you, then they will do it to someone else down the line.

So their possible future bad behavior towards others is my fault? Gee, thanks buddy, you have this whole kicking a man when he's down thing really sewn up. Also, NO. It's theirs.

I'm not saying it's your fault that they're doing it. They're still being creeps.

I'm just saying that they know they're being creeps and trying to discourage someone and saying "congrats you discouraged me" only tells them they did what they wanted. So it's probably not going to accomplish what you think it is.

That's not what I was trying to do, though. I get that jerks will be jerks. I was venting. Guy (or gal) prolly isn't here now.

Yes, there are some particularly nasty people here. I had someone tell me I was the reason they hated a ship and some other nasty comments.

Honestly, you just need to learn to ignore it. Don't let them ruin your enjoyment.

God,no. Discouraged, not actually f*cking stupid.

I've had a pretty similar experience here on f!s that had the same effect on me too. I love f!s and it has some of the greatest people, but it has some of the worst too. I can tell you the feeling did go away with time though. Quite a lot of time, but the sting did fade eventually.

That's the down side of a dwindling community or a small fandom. People get overly invested in their space and grab onto the smallest slight. And then, since there aren't that many users around to begin with, they cling to those things and get intensely personal about it instead of being distracted by other things.

The trolls and haters have gotten really fucking nasty lately. I'm not a fan of herpy or dethtoll or chard, for example, but when anon trolls/haters go around spreading incredibly vile shit that just isn't true about them it's a symptom of that obsessive mentality.

Keep on not contributing Jaybie/Dani. Your OC stuff is indeed crap.

In case you haven't noticed she has continued to write and do things despite your whining and temper tantrums.

Jaybie is a user who posted about supporting OCs in the past and pissed off a very obsessive butthurt person who hasn't stopped harassing them about it for a whole year. I think at this point they talk more about OCs than the user in question.

I wouldn't pay them any mind.

Your fandom contributions aren't crap just because one person says so. If they aren't fond of your stuff alright, but I wouldn't take it seriously. They probably just wanted to bring you down.

This may come off as harsh, but it sounds like you need a thicker skin. Whether or not your contributions are "total crap" isn't for one person to decide, and quite frankly, someone who would make it their sad little mission to tell you that... is an asshole whose opinion means nothing. I shake my head at people like that, who have to tear others down, because doing so says way more about them than it does about the folks they're targeting.
