F!S Anon Meme (the ??th!)

F!S Anon Meme (the ??th!)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required.
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff. If you want me to link your thread up here, drop a link in the first comment!

General:
Halloween costumes

Fandom-general:
Porn comics
F/F recs

Tbh - and I know this is a very unpopular opinion - I don't understand why people genuinely enjoy the romantic aspects of such dynamics at all. What part of "pure abuse and emotional toxicity" screams fun to them?

I don't really know how to explain it. I feel like this is one of those things you get or you don't.

If you like the source material and find the characters well written and the dynamics fascinating, you might end up shipping them because of how much it works within the constructs of the canon. It isn't always about fun (though it might be, for some) so much as what you see in the text and find faithful (to the characters) or interesting.

Hannibal/Will has been there since S1 to some extent. I'll agree that it isn't a ship without plenty of (incredibly, lol) problematic elements to it so I understand why some people might stay away from it, but I can't help liking it. Maybe part of it is because of how drastically different it is from all my other pairings, so it feels fresh and unusual. (And again, fascinating in that "I know this is wrong" sort of way.)

Yeah I get enjoying the fucked-up dynamic, but most of what I've seen on the fandom are things like domestically-themed art or cute AUs and it really makes me wonder what part of the pairing it is exactly that they enjoy.

Simple. It's the same reasoning behind just about every other juggernaut ship in a fandom out there: it's two (reasonably/marginally) hot-looking white guys together.

Is it really? Cause I never understand the appeal of it. I'm into white guys more than black or asian guys, for the record, but I don't get why you would just want to ship random hot guy with random hot guy. To me it's 100% the dynamic. But I don't like AUs, either, except if they're either true to the canon, or somehow invert it ort elsewise stay in relation to the source material.

Because it is fun? I enjoy characters playing games with each other. I enjoy creepy romantic stuff that is so unhealthy because of everything surrounding it. I don't actually think it is in any way romantic, but I enjoy that stuff that is surface romantic (very surface) but deep down very much not okay. I'm not even sure why I like it, but I do.

Can't speak for all fans, though, there are plenty who actually romanticize it.

You're sick if you think that is romantic

I actually don't think it is romantic. I don't have to find something romantic to ship it.
