F!S Anon Meme (the ??th!)
Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.
Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required.
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.
That's about it, though!
I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff. If you want me to link your thread up here, drop a link in the first comment!
General:
Halloween costumes
Fandom-general:
Porn comics
F/F recs
Guilty pleasures
Fandom-specific:
Girl Meets World

Sailor Moon Crystal
(Anonymous) 2015-10-18 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)No one was forced to sit and watch Crystal, but some of the vitriol some of the fans are spewing sure makes it sound as if they were. We're all fans of something together. Why do some people gotta make it so nasty?

(Anonymous) 2015-10-18 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)Either way, I'm tired of people telling me how awful I am and not a true SM fan... when I've been in the fandom most of my life.

* Personal expectations, especially those who've never read the manga
* Rose-tinted nostalgia of the original anime (which itself was nowhere near perfect in some regards and comes across as horribly dated in parts)
SMC was what it was advertised to be: a quasi-reboot that's accurate to the original manga (right down to the art style), borderlining on almost being panel-for-panel. If they were expecting something different, I don't know what to tell them.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-19 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)The Sailor moon manga often didn't depict backgrounds, for example, focusing more on the expressions of the protagonists. it's NOT true to the art style if you just trace the lines then, and slap some watercolor background on it. The scene completely changes context, in the visual sense.
Sure, they were probably on a tight budget, but I'd rather see a 4-episode OVA done decent than what was Crystal.
