F!S Anon Meme (the ??th!)

F!S Anon Meme (the ??th!)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required.
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff. If you want me to link your thread up here, drop a link in the first comment!

General:
Halloween costumes

Fandom-general:
Porn comics
F/F recs
Guilty pleasures

Fandom-specific:
Girl Meets World

Why do you troll?

(Anonymous) 2015-10-18 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you get a high, like winning a sport? Is trolling your primary fandom interaction, or do you participate lwgitimately? Do you seek out opportunities or juat take them as they come? Does it bother you or amuse you when other people troll you?

I troll in response to trolls trying to troll me... pretty much exclusively. Counter-trolling is the best trolling.

I don't try to troll but I get accused of it sometimes for disagreeing with someone. So... accidentally, mostly.

Because I find it funny when people get riled up over silly, trivial things that no one outside of fandom gives a shit about.

" silly, trivial things that no one outside of fandom gives a shit about."

I dunno man that depends on what you would consider trivial and silly???

Shipping. The quality of adaptations and sequels. Whether or not [insert creator here] is a hack. That sort of thing.

Ah okay then

I agree. I guess I was just thinking about some of the nastier trolls we've gotten here.

I'm not one of the MRA/radfem trolls, if that's what you were implying. I find those anons boring and unfunny.

I was thinking more of the hatestalker types. The MRA/Radfem trolls are kinda lazy and boring.

Nope, not a hatestalker either! Those people are just creepy.

Ah good.

Everyone says they're trolls and doing it for the attention but I'm not entirely sure about that.

I think it's a mix of trolls and people who have a genuine grudge. Like, fedora anon strikes me as a troll. jaybie_jarret's stalker, not so much.

Re: Why do you troll?

(Anonymous) 2015-10-18 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
jaybie's stalker is a fucking lunatic.

Also I kinda suspect that they might be autism/asperger's anon, who has confessed to enjoying targeting people with Asperger's because of the way they react. Maybe.

That wouldn't surprise me. Either way, they're despicable.

I think Jaybie's troll was trolling us just as much, tbh. NOT AN EXCUSE, of course - I just think that was also their motive.

Although they seem to have stopped. Whether they finally left or they're just waiting is the question. (Because it seems to me they were silent for quite a while and then suddenly started trolling.)

Sadly it might make sense if it was a bit of self-hatred. :/

They've started to come back actually. They poked in on one of the threads on the first page and a few days ago when Jaybie talked about their headcanon about muggleborns in Slytherin.

The best thing to do is to not call attention to it.

But...you're on Fandom Secrets. You actively choose to come here. And those things are fandom things.

It's not like this is a general news board, and us geeks keep crashing it to freak out about our geek things. Nobody is claiming our OTPs and the Syrian refugee crisis are equal, or even belong in the same ballpark. The fact that this place is called Fandom Secrets, however, does tend to suggest that these trivial things matter to us. Ridiculing us for it is like going to a sports website and ridiculing anyone who gives a fuck about...pretty much anything related to their favorite sports team. Like, yeah, you can do it, but it genuinely does make you a troll. And not the "I'm actually a cool troll because I know I'm trolling" kind. Just the douchey kind.

+1 Trolling is fun.

Re: Why do you troll?

(Anonymous) 2015-10-18 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I do it when I think I'm funny. Especially when I'm tired and my self censoring filters are down.

When I'm trying to highlight the absurdity of an argument. Orrrr when I'm tired and bored and looking for a reaction from someone I've taken a dislike to. Or for teh lulz.

I haven't trolled in awhile, because there's an influx of talentless trolls with all the subtlety of a train wreck and I don't want to be lumped in with them.

Usually I would troll out of either boredom or very upset with real life. I do not use personal attacks or target weak links though. Where's the challenge in that? Dick moves.

Much more fun to keep it on topic to fandom and draw it out slowly from a reasonable discussion that gets many involved then explodes.
