I've never forgiven Syfy for cancelling my favorite shows so I always have a bit of guilty glee whenever anything on that network gets cancelled. I'm sorry.

...Was it SGA? I'm still bitter about that (ALWAYS BITTER) but I'm not glad Defiance is canceled. (Despite that I haven't watched this season, and am unlikely to at this point. The first season was really good, though!)

I'm with you. I have the third season ready to watch, but I just feel no drive to. I loved the first season, the second was less enjoyable to me. I've tried to watch the first ep of the third season twice now, but my attention wanders. I feel bad that it's been canceled, since I enjoyed the first season so much.

SGU is my SGA though. SGU was one of my favorite shows ever, and it was canceled so early...

What appealed to you about SGU? I ask because I basically hate-watched the whole thing, hoping that (most of) the characters would die.

I loved that it was dark, but even more than that, I loved how grey the characters were -- who was a bad guy? Who was good? With rare exception, it was not just unclear, but it changed from case to case. I loved the whole setting of the show, that they were so far off into space, (mostly) cut off and alone. I loved the idea of the ship: High tech to the point of being unusable to most of them, and yet so old it was falling apart. And, unlike you, I loved most of the characters. :)

The time traveling ep was one of my favorite episodes of TV ever.

I haven't tried to watch S3 yet; I hated the end of S2 and don't have any motivation to catch up. Maybe later I'll feel like it. S1 was a huge surprise to me and while my feelings were mixed on season 2 there were good episodes now and then. *shrugs*

I can't speak to SGU though because I was bitter over SGA's cancellation; didn't like that the network cancelled SGA only to immediately make SGU. After a while some of the bitterness went away (not all of it, lol) and I decided there wasn't any point in watching SGU anyway because even if it was good, it would have no future on SyFy because they'd cancel it.

Seems I was right!

(Though I'm not really bitter about Haven given the first half of the season.)

In the past two years, I've fallen in love with two stupid SyFy shows, Defiance and Helix, and they're both now cancelled. Defiance tryed hard to make unique alien cultures work, and pulled it off pretty well. I loved the Tarr family and everything they were developing there in S2. I wanted S3 to be all about Christie developing into being Stahma's badass protege.
