I’ve shipped them since before I knew what shipping was. As I grew older and found out that Snufkin was based on Atos Wirtanen and Moomin is something of a representation of Tove Jansson herself, I turned into one of those people who believe that we are actually supposed to read Moomin’s feelings as romantic, albeit unrequited. Until now I’ve been content with what is there in the books, but now I suddenly crave fic. Not porn*. I just wish people would write angsty and bittersweet fic exploring Moomin’s feelings, both the good and the bad. And I’m getting ridiculously frustrated by the fact that there’s nothing out there.

I can understand where you're coming from. I'm the opposite (Asriel looks so sad it just breaks my heart), but Flowey has much more presence than Asriel and while he's a jerk, there's a lot more to him than that. I've never played Genocide myself, but I've heard killing him in that route is one of the most heartbreaking things a Genocide player can do/does.

I thought this was a great conclusion to the series. But I can't help being heartbroken that mutual Breq/Seivarden wasn't endgame. Not that I expected it to be. I just haven't shipped anything so hard in years.

Well, most of them are fortunate enough never to have any real experience with murder or abuse, which makes it easier to romanticize in their heads. Especially if the lead is physically attractive. Then there's the small fraction of fans who aren't quite that naive, but who still enjoy it for harder to explain reasons... kind of like how some women end up being serial killer groupies. Their priorities are a bit screwy.
