Re: Arguments or criticisms you hate
So if you're one of the people or animals that can't feel pain, it's okay to eat you?
Re: Arguments or criticisms you hate
Re: Arguments or criticisms you hate
That's like saying "Women don't have penises, so trying to say it is hypocritical to eat them and not men is just stupid."
Where is this intrinsic value in certain body parts that makes it ethical to eat or not eat? I don't see it. "Oh, oh brain! That makes you special, you are exempt from X." You have a kneejerk, "That has value!" reaction to brain-holding, and you assume that it must be objectively correct and accurate.
"That's just stupid" is a rather poor argument, by the way. You complain about these "stupid arguments" people make against vegetarianism, and yet your pièce de résistance is "that's stupid"?
And there are other good arguments like the way animals slaughtered are treated
That's not an argument against eating meat, that's an argument against treating animals a certain way. You don't seem to have a very good grasp on what makes something a good or "stupid" argument.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-06 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)this may be the dumbest thing you've ever said and that's a feat
(also transphobic)
Re: Arguments or criticisms you hate
(Anonymous) 2015-11-06 02:16 am (UTC)(link)1. It assumes why someone is vegetarian
2. It oversimplifies issues - someone whose diet doesn't consist of meat is not going to suddenly eat a steak if they found that cow had a brain condition which made it unable to feel pain
3. Did you actually just suggest cannibalism?
Though I do think the obsessed outrage meat-eaters have about vegetarians is hilarious.
Re: Arguments or criticisms you hate
I was responding to Phil's point that it's unethical to eat meat because animals can feel pain. The implication in that is that the ethics of eating something hinges on its ability to feel pain.
