Rant Thread

Because I need to rant.

TMI

(Anonymous) 2015-11-08 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
my body decided that what I really needed was a second period 3 days after I finished my last one. With both times the pain being so bad I can barely move. And I'm feeling sick at this point from all the ibuprofen I've been taking.

And all I want to do is be left alone to be miserable and sleep, but my roommate decided today would be a good day to move furniture.

Just sayin', you might want to see a doctor if this happens again.

Self-interested "friends"

(Anonymous) 2015-11-08 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
A "friend" who had been ignoring me for months, and who I had found out had been badmouthing me behind my back, suddenly shows interest in my life. I tentatively message back out of curiosity. Turns out he's only messaging me because he's going to visit my city next month. Guessing he thinks he can convince me to let him stay in my house. Hah.

I hate people like that. Had too many friends who acted this way. Ignore him or just have lunch if you want, but don't bend to any major requests.

TMI (other)

(Anonymous) 2015-11-08 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I have an infection but I don't know if it is yeast or bacteria so I'm not sure how to treat it. It itches itches itches and it drives me mad!

Re: TMI (other)

(Anonymous) 2015-11-08 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate being Captain Obvious, but is going a doctor a choice?

Re: TMI (other)

(Anonymous) 2015-11-08 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't try to self-diagnose this nonny. You could wind up doing more harm than good if you try to treat it. Get to a doc, a medical clinic, student medical assist, what have you. Good luck and I hope you're well again soon!

Re: TMI (other)

(Anonymous) 2015-11-08 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
If this is vaginal, then it's likely yeast infection but you really need to see a doctor and get it checked out to be sure.

Re: TMI (other)

(Anonymous) 2015-11-08 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
put yoghurt on it, or tofu. both were recommended to me by my gynecologist and midwives, for pain/itch relief and to counter infections. Of course, IF it persists or gets worse, yeah, doctor it should be.

I love Russian church music but bozhe moye, the comments. I was trying to find the composer for the setting of S'nami Bog I grew up singing. Big mistake. Even more than other stuff, that text brings the batshit rabid Slavophiles out of the woodwork.

So, this montion-sensing outdoor light was installed by my backdoor a couple of months ago. There is an indoor lightswitch that must remain in the "on" position all the time for the light to work. This was explained to me when it was installed. I did not touch it after that and it's not in a spot where it's likely to get bumoed. A few weeks ago, I realized the light wasn't working. The VERY FIRST THING I checked was whether the switch was on. It was. I thought it was unlikely both bulbs would have burned out so soon, so rather that buying new bulbs, I'd ask my landlady to have it looked at by her regular electrician who installed.

Then my landlady called about some painting that had to be done in my apartmemt. I mentioned the light and she said she'd ask the electrician to look at it. She calls me two days later to say one of the bulbs had to be replaced [why would that stop the other from working? Is it like those old strings of Christmas lights where they all go out if one dies and can't complete the circut?] and the electrician told her I had to keep the switch on for the light to work. I tokd her I had never turned it off and had checked it when I noticed the light was out. It must have been off when the electrician saw it though, since she then said "Oh, maybe the painter turned it off."

I get home and find that the electrician wrote "DO NOT TURN OFF" in permanent pen on the switchplate, which is in a very visible spot in my kitchen. I can't tell you how angry this made me. I've calmed down now, a few days later, but I was absolutely enraged. This guy's FIRST ASSUMPTION was that I am an idiot who doesn't know how lightswitches work. I'm unbelievably lucky he even looked at the light and did anything to actually fix it. I tried removing the ink with rubbing alcohol, but that only got about half of it off and the letters were still stained on there. I have to re-paint that wall anyway and figured I'd paint the switchplate, too, but it will be a while before I can get to that and I realized I could NOT stand to look at this assholish little note until then. Fuming, I grabbed a screwdriver and took the plate off. I've been too busy these last few days, but I'm about to go out and get a new one.

tl;dr fuck that guy, seriously.

What a dick.

TMI (psoriasis)

(Anonymous) 2015-11-08 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
A couple of years ago, the scalp on the back of my head decided it was time it and I parted company, and since then I've had periods of red, itchy, insanely flakey, sometimes bleeding patches on my scalp, that come and go.

Neither my regular doctor nor the dermatologist I was referred to did more than glance (like literally, a half-second glance) at my head before telling me it was seborrheic dermatitis and prescribing anti-fungal treatments. Eventually, it went away.

In the past couple of months, though, it's come back Hellbent on Revenge. I got my PCP to renew my prescription for the last cream I used, but it hasn't been working.

Then today, I got curious and googled "difference between seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis."

WELL WELL WELL.

I fit all the criteria for psoriasis. I have memories of being treated for psoriasis on my scalp as a little kid. I have been using anti-fungal medications which are useless on psoriasis, because my freaking doctors never actually took a good look at my scalp like they were supposed to. And I'm sitting here with a stinging, itchy, bloody scalp that's now coming off in (sorry TMI) chunks because of it.

And bonus, higher-level rant: my skin hates me. I have ichthyosis vulgaris and keratosis pilaris on my arms and legs, from my shoulders to my wrists and my butt to my ankles. I have acne on my back that I have had since puberty that I've never been able to cure (and I'm almost forty). I have lifelong KP and acne on my chest. (Somehow, mercifully, the skin on my face is normal. I still have the occasional pimple, but otherwise my facial skin is not affected by my other conditions.)

And to top this all off, I compulsively pick at my skin. My arms and legs have looked like warzones since I was a teen. I can stop picking for a few days at most, and then it comes roaring back. I wear long sleeves and trousers all year long (never ever shorts or short-sleeves), and lately I have only been able to wear white and light grey above the waist because of my shedding scalp.

Lydia Lunch once wrote, "DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO LIVE INSIDE SOMEONE WHO HATES YOU?" Yes.

My period just started which means my heaviest day is going to be the day of my three-hour chemistry lab where I'm standing the whole time. Again.

Downton Abbey

(Anonymous) 2015-11-08 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
In my continued adventures of why the fuck do I even watch this show: What the everliving fuck was tonight episode. Spoilers btw.

I mean Thomas Barrow gets about 5 seconds of screen time for a fucking suicide attempt! No emotions about the attempt except for when he blames himself for being such an evil evil person. Then he gets an orange and boom that is that storyline done. No more depressed underbutlers here.

Then Mary is a bitch for the entire episode and you think o she is getting her comeuppance. Good that was about time. Lolnope she just mopes a bit and then gets randomly married to a guy she has no chemistry whatsoever with. Just why did she even marry the guy. Everyone else said she was in love but no she just seemed a bit bullied into it.

And Carson just continues being a massive dickhead for no reason with no explanation.

My 6 month long period brought on by my IUD insertion 6 months back better be fucking ending. I'm sick of the blood, I'm sick of pulling my menstrual cup out every few hours to dump it out, is annoying as hell. It's getting lighter, so I'm hoping it's not a false alarm.

Also fuck people who decide to order a shitload of food on a fucking Sunday of all days and make my life difficult at work.
