I agree with all the things you just said.

Slash fans need to just accept what they are doing is just as fetish-y as straight guys getting off to lesbians. I would not be so bothered by slash fans if they didn't act like self-righteous assholes about it.

As a bi guy who writes het and slash I find it kind of lolariously ironic if I get accused of fetishising something I've actually *done* in bed. :P

As a bi guy who writes mostly slash, I sit back and grab popcorn whenever wank like this comes up

Everybody gotta be self righteous about their porn

(Anonymous) 2015-11-14 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean it's porn, but slash written by women a lot of times is also id fic that very obviously, awkwardly, and embarrassingly addresses unequal power dynamics. This is intersectionality in action here. I'm sorry for OP's rage and upset. It sucks to feel used and fetishized, especially by ignorant people who have no sensitivity or awareness of their privileges. But OP is also a man and part of a sexist society, so this is the flip side, the bite of that. I know it sucks. Sorry.

Also, yes, it's porn and we love our porn.

I think you took my comment the wrong way. I wasn't saying it sucks. I was saying everybody getting all self righteous about their porn is goddamn funny because lol, it's porn. Expecting it to not fetishize someone is dumb

AYRT

Obviously it fetishizes and offends (see OP). But neither does that mean it's simply porn to everyone. I can't speak for you. Sure, I get my rocks off on it. But it also means a hell of a lot more for me, even as I'm getting off. It means something to me psychosexually, re: the standard heteronormative dynamic, and how that *isn't* what's going on between the characters when I create/write my favorite slash scenarios. They have something different between them, and it hits something in me that is so important and impossible to attain with any of the guys I have been with that, seriously, it is to weep. So lol all you want, but that's the intersection: I'll fetishize my imaginary gay partners because they have what I never can thanks to sexism. No one will ever make me that sandwich. In bed or anywhere else. So I write it instead.

"act like self-righteous assholes about it"

Femslash fans must bother you the most then.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-14 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
DA, but it's a mixed bag. The Gay/Bi fans of femslash, I can understand why they gravitate towards it, which is cool. But those straight fans who scream, 'representation!" and call anyone who likes Het stuff 'homophobes', even the Gay/Bi women who read/write Het, make me rage. It's like a special soapbox they can show off to tumblr like a badge of honor.

lesbian porn is literally a multimillion dollar industry and lesbians are so sexualized by men its hard to find things as actual help online lmao

dont you fucking dare compare what we have to deal with to fucking fanfiction you homophobic fake piece of shit

(Anonymous) 2015-11-15 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
Next person I see use "compare" when they mean "equate" gets their computer set on fire. Fair warning, you asinine little shits. Either you don't know what words mean, or you DO know and you're deliberately using them wrong so as to blow up your pet issues and get self-righteous about things, and either way: computer on fire.
