I agree with all the things you just said.

Slash fans need to just accept what they are doing is just as fetish-y as straight guys getting off to lesbians. I would not be so bothered by slash fans if they didn't act like self-righteous assholes about it.

Obviously it fetishizes and offends (see OP). But neither does that mean it's simply porn to everyone. I can't speak for you. Sure, I get my rocks off on it. But it also means a hell of a lot more for me, even as I'm getting off. It means something to me psychosexually, re: the standard heteronormative dynamic, and how that *isn't* what's going on between the characters when I create/write my favorite slash scenarios. They have something different between them, and it hits something in me that is so important and impossible to attain with any of the guys I have been with that, seriously, it is to weep.
