Oh man, Hozier is so brilliant. Overplayed or not, Take Me To Church is a perfect song, especially with that chilling music video...

I think it's a great song but I haaaate the video, tbh.

Really? I thought it was extremely powerful, and hit me really hard - I'm gay, and it sent a really chilling message. Especially since it was around the time of the Russian homophobia stuff was headlining.

Yup, I am too. It left me crying and shaking lol

Like, maybe it's silly. But I was nottttt expecting that and idk

I completely agree. It was one of the most beautiful and powerful music videos I've seen. And for me it made the song a lot more powerful too. I mean, I know the video didn't actually change the meaning of the song, but I find the song a lot more powerful and moving in the context of the video, so now whenever I hear the song it's imbued with the meaning and emotion of the video.

Agreed. I loved the song until I saw the video, now the song makes me physically sick to my stomach whenever I hear it. I guess that goes to how powerful the song and video are together, but it ruined the song for me.

After reading the replies you got, I finally (and very belatedly) realized that you were NOT talking about this video: Sergei Polunin, "Take Me to Church" by Hozier, Directed by David LaChapelle
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-tW0CkvdDI
which was the only one I had seen - and incredibly beautiful.

I'm not sure if I should watch the other (original?) version now (I want to keep "my" version).
