I had family on a righteous rant about how we can't accept any Syrian refugees because they can't be trusted. When I asked why helping homeless, scared people get away from danger was a bad thing, they very smugly pulled up a picture from Facebook about Syrians that said "if someone gave you a bunch of grapes and told you two of them were poisoned, would you eat any?".

When they smiled and nodded, satisfied with themselves when I said nothing because I was too stunned, I just let it go. You can't argue with someone like that sadly.

No, you really can't. Yuck. I've got a few extended family and friends on FB who are posting shite much like that, and i just.... It's exhausting to even *try* to point out the ridiculous and ugly nature of their 'position'.

So infuriating when someone thinks your stunned silence to their stupid argument somehow implies they've won, isn't it?

You have far better restraint than I do.
