(Anonymous) 2015-11-23 12:08 am (UTC)(link)Things I judge people for but keep my judgments to myself: Most noncon if it's mean to be hot, really prominent power imbalance when it's not treated as a bad thing, relationships that are clearly and one-sidedly abusive but depicted as romantic or hot, most instances of torture if it's meant to be hot.
With torture, I think it depends on the helplessness and vulnerability of the victim as well. If Lex tortures Superman, or Loki tortures Thor, and they both want each other and it's meant to be hot, it might not be my cup of tea but it also strikes me as a somewhat different thing, because torture doesn't have the same impact on super powerful beings who know they won't die from it and will heal very quickly and have spectacular pain endurance anyway. Plus characters with super powers know violence intimately; they expect to do violence and have violence done to them on a regular basis. So the psychology surrounding torture is often a bit different in those cases.
