Exactly. It's exhausting for everyone involved.

I had a friend who was in an abusive relationship. She was on cloud 9 one week and full of self-hatred and anger the next. It happened over and over again for the same reasons.

Just being the occassional confidante was emotionally draining. The emotional car crash she was on certainly did her no favors.
