So earlier this year, I set myself to losing weight. Over the past 8 months, I've dropped 55 lbs and I still have about 30 lbs to go. I don't think it's conceit to say I've done a good job so far but now that I'm smaller, it's harder to lose weight and it comes off more slowly. Dieting has been my way so far but I think I'm going to have to add exercise in now because it's taking TOO LONG. It's really frustrating with the holidays, too, because there's so much awesome food around and it's constant temptation. At the same time, I have to quit my present job in December and I'm trying to get a new job at the same time. I'm stressed! I want to eat bread, dammit! I just need to chill the fuck out but I gotta tell you guys, it's tough out there for a pimp.

Someone once related weight loss to video games for me. You know how in the beginning levels of a video game, you level up insanely easy? Like, all you have to do is run around on the map and BAM, you're up three levels and a slightly more dangerous rusty shortsword. But somewhere around the 10th level or so, leveling up takes longer, you have to garner way more XP for it, even as you finally get that goddamn broadsword that would choke a dragon.

He said weight loss is like that. In the beginning, as our bodies are going through major and quick(ish) change, the pounds drop off easy. But eventually we hit a higher level, and our bodies are adjusting, so we have to build up more XP for the leveling.

Does that make sense? I'm not sure if it does.

No, it makes sense. It's just frustrating is all. :)

I feel your pain. The closer you get to goal weight, the harder it is. That's just how it goes, unfortunately. But luckily, exercise is a great way to combat stress, so go for it.

Thanks for your commiseration. :)
I think I'm going to start walking to my picnic spot instead of driving on my lunch hour. My sister goes running but she far outstrips me in terms of physical fitness and my younger sister always asks me to stay home with her instead of running, so I never go out with big sis anymore. The lunch hour trek seems like my best bet.
