It annoys the hell out of me.

Also people who actively find you are attractive are probably chubby chasers, not people who find you attractive despite of your obvious disgustingness.

My knee-jerk reaction to anything declaring to the world that they love being something soooooo much and here are all the reasons why, is that oh boy, that person is insecure and defensive about that thing and needs to let everyone know it.

The topic of this particular one happens to be about being fat, but it could be about anything else and I'd still think the same.

Fat is a sign of unhealthiness. Skinny people can be unhealthy too, sure, but that doesn't mean being fat is healthy.

I'm always happy to see people who are comfortable in their own skin! Some of my loved ones have eating disorders, so it always warms my heart to see people who are over society's bullshit body-policing.

Kinda makes me lol that a person who ostensibly loves being fat would draw themselves with a thigh gap.

Annoyed. Mostly by "(I love being fat because) I don't have to calorie count." Nobody HAS to calorie count. It's a choice. And eating foods that make your body feel good isn't a concept that's unique to fat people.

I'm fat, too, and I say STFU, cartoonist.

Eh. Not feeling the implying that non-fat people are obsessed with their weight.

It confuses me. I'm a twig and I don't calorie count and I don't obsess about my weight either. That's not something all skinny people do. I don't understand why she thinks that.

Re: How does this comic make you feel?

It's fine. But I'm sure there are plenty of people who react negatively to any overweight person who doesn't beat themselves up about being fat and some of them will show up in this thread.

I didn't particularly care about the comic, but I'm enjoying all the butthurt people whining about this girl dares to not feel bad about her weight!!! I bet y'all are fat.

I think the comic itself sounds incredibly pretentious, mildly obnoxious (very nice way to put it, anon above) and I can't take anyone seriously who draws themselves wearing a "no fuckboys allowed" shirt - that basically says all about what kind of an obnoxious person the author is.

I also think that people are absolutely allowed to find fat people unattractive - and I say this as someone who is fairly fat as well.

I also think a lot of these fat positive people who are so convinced they are sooo healthy have never actually been to a docotor for a proper health check - they just think "I have no current problems, I must be super healthy" while ignoring that there are long term risks if you are much too fat for a long duration of your life. And if they were and, say, got bad results on their blood test, it's all evil lies and slander or something.

Re: How does this comic make you feel?

(Anonymous) 2015-12-03 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
It mildly annoys me, because being fat (and from the way she's drawn herself she seems to be at least obese, if not morbidly so) is unhealthy. Our bodies aren't built to carry that much weight. It also annoys me because using the excuse of already being fat and therefore not needing to think about what you put in your body is an easy way to gain a lot more weight as who cares about those 10 pounds? And the 10 pounds that gets added on top of that. And then the next 10. And so on. Or at least that was my own experience until I decided I had to break that cycle.

I think it's kind of cute? I mean, why all the negativity about someone who's happy in her own skin?

I feel like the body positivity movement made a wrong turn somewhere. The end goal should be feeling good about your body, definitely, and shaming fat people is not gonna get you there, but I dunno I feel that it should be more about encouraging healthy lifestyle choices for all sizes instead of it's okay to treat your body badly because admitting your body isn't in good shape is bad or something.

Perplexed. Does she think skinny people do nothing but count calories and sneer at fat people?

> I usually find that people who aren't locked into the narrow view of beauty that the media perpetuates tend to be more open-minded, confident (and frankly, intelligent) individuals

She goes on a tangent about how she's much smarter and better at everything than thin people. Like, waaaay to generalize, and even if you draw that for yourself/your overweight friends, you're not going to make any new friends.

I also don't believe her "I just listen to what my body needs". When I started changing my diet I ate more vegetables and lowered my complex sugars intake. All in all I ate the same quantities in food and I started losing some weight without exercising a lot, and without being hungry. Methinks she can't make the difference between "being satiated" and "being stuffed" and that's why she's fat.

Also just because she's cute does not mean all fat people look cute. She draws herself as curvy and with a nice body shape, while some fat people just look rectangle.

I'm sure I'd feel something if I could read it. (Not your fault, anon.) Is it like new internet rules that things have to be tiny and light colored on white screens?

tl;dr I'm an old crotchety bitch who needs new glasses.

As someone who is certifiably fat (fatter than the artist has drawn themself, at least), I just found it pretentious and stupid, and I would probably not commission art from them at any point.

I'm fat, and everything about this just reads like skinny-shaming dressed up as body positivity.

Also, it's amazing how often I see fat people swear up and down they're totes in great shape, when irl I've known exactly ONE overweight person who actually was healthy overall. There's a reason there aren't a lot of obese athletes, short of sumo wrestling.

WELL... If she feels good about being overweight, then that's her business. On the other hand, not everyone feels confident or happy enough with having some extra weight.

Also someone added an "ATTENTION SKELEFUCKER." comment and I can't stop laughing, goddamn.

Kind of jealous, I guess?

I'm very insecure. I have a terrible personality, and I don't think my face is particularly attractive either. I feel like one of the only attractive things about me is my body. When I gained 30 lbs. due to being depressed, I kind of had a minor freak out when I realized how much fatter I had gotten, and so I slimmed back down to 125 lbs. I think I have a pretty ideal body for a woman. I'm thin, have long legs, and pretty sizable breasts.

I'd love to be able to eat whatever the fuck I want and not worry about gaining weight, but I feel like one of the few things going for me is my body so I don't...lol.
