Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
(Anonymous) 2015-12-03 02:34 am (UTC)(link)But I can never decide what I want my character to specialize in regarding melee, ranged attacks and magic. I really only ever use magic when I can't win a fight any other way. But when it comes to ranged and melee...I like both. And I like to start with ranged, because if I can take people out or damage them from a distance before having to fight closeup, that's the route I'm going to take. But closeup fights are fun, too.
Nurgh, I don't know what to do!

(Anonymous) 2015-12-03 02:59 am (UTC)(link)I generally only use healing magic, and not very often, but alchemy is great for poisons!
I haven't played Oblivion, but I'm assuming most of the game mechanics are similar enough that this might be helpful.
Re: Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
I never completed Oblivion. Enjoyed it and all that, but there's so much to do that I get overwhelmed and while I want to compulsively complete every quest I come across, doing so feels almost impossible; I grow bored of trying, get distracted by something else and then not come back for six to eight months. (And am a bit confused when I pick up the game where I left off.)
I've done the same thing with Skyrim; I only have two playthroughs but I've probably racked up about 400 hours in those now (and I haven't even made it mid-game, as far as story goes).
I'm not good with magic in Elder Scrolls games. It's awesome and I would like to specialize in it, but my first instinct is to hack and slash. I really enjoy sword and shield, and at least in Skyrim I LOVED archery.
You can do a bit of everything though, can't you?
