I wish Tumblr with its love of creating new words for specific things would come up with an updated version of "WASP" to use instead of "white people" because when they rant about Islamophobia it's always "white people" against Muslims and I want to scream "DO YOU KNOW HOW VERY MANY WHITE PEOPLE ARE MUSLIM?"

Why do we need an updated version? What's wrong with WASP?

That's what tumblrites really mean when referring to "white people" most of the time.

Because nowadays some people who fit the idea of a WASP aren't technically WASPs, on account of being Catholic or of some white European descent other than Anglo-Saxon that used to face discrimination but doesn't anymore. Like my mom's whole side of my family, who I always want to rant about for being so WASPy until I remember they're Irish Catholic.
