Jessica Jones is everything I don't want in a superhero show, and I can't wait for the hype to die down.

All I wanted was a fucking Heroes for Hire film or show or something but nooooo, instead Marvel gives us this shit.

I wish Tumblr with its love of creating new words for specific things would come up with an updated version of "WASP" to use instead of "white people" because when they rant about Islamophobia it's always "white people" against Muslims and I want to scream "DO YOU KNOW HOW VERY MANY WHITE PEOPLE ARE MUSLIM?"

Re: controversial/confrontational/hostile/bitter opinions

(Anonymous) 2015-12-04 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
pretty sure that if you are a Muslim they regard you as an honorary POC. It's like a plenary indulgence.

Re: controversial/confrontational/hostile/bitter opinions

(Anonymous) 2015-12-04 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Why do we need an updated version? What's wrong with WASP?

That's what tumblrites really mean when referring to "white people" most of the time.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-04 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Disabled people whining about how fetus testing might lead to disabled fetus being aborted: sad and ableist as that is, that's the pregnant person's prerogative!

If you want to avoid that situation focus your activism on making it easier to raise a disabled child, NOT on trying to ban fetus testing. For a group who claims to be so serious about the right to bodily autonomy, you're fucking hypocrites.

Regarding Autism Cure discussions. They're impossible if you're not really really pro or really really anti.

Both sides will question your diagnosis, and how valid it is, both sides will guilt trip you one way or another, both sides will put words in your mouth and accuse you of saying things you never said. Both sides will try to make you look like the devil if you don't agree with their exact and entire manifesto. They'll also derail the argument like hell.

The only options seem to be "Everybody on the spectrum should want/have them " or "it shouldn't exist for anybody".

The system we have now, where we work 5-6 days a week for most of the year, for like 40 years of our lives is utter bullshit.

Especially as a lot of jobs are just totally made-up bullshit that no-one actually needs.

This is not how people envisioned the future.

Automation should have enabled us to work less. Given our levels of potential prosperity, we shouldn't be working nearly that much to survive.

I don't think any of the arguments I've heard for why it's morally acceptable to be a defense attorney make sense in the context of rape cases. Legal ethics is so often framed as the proescution and the defense doing a thorough and honest job in order for the jury to decide fairly, yet rape cases in particular are so often about playing to the jury's biases.

I think the counter-movement against hard work, to the point at which you're not supposed to admire anyone for it and slack off at work because Teh Man is Evul111, is a little ridiculous.

And yeah, "the man" is going to be a little pissed off if you don't do your job.

I judge adults who read exclusively YA novels. Don't get me wrong, there are some good ones out there, but if that's ALL you read, I tend to think you're probably not very smart.

I know this is awful.

I just want stupid fandom back and to nit feel like I have to walk on egg shells all the time.

I am so not the best at getting my thoughts down right, but fuck, I hardly feel I can say anything these days without someone who is overly sensitive jumping fown my throat.

Inb4 "you just wanna be racist."

No, I don't. I just wanna do what I used to do and not have to hope someone doesn't decide to doxx me. :/

I think I'm too old for fandom these days.

The stranglehold gatekeeping on social welfare and the idea that being generous with government funds to the needy is encouraging sloth.

Shut the hell up - no it's fucking not.

You're telling me that we as a people shouldn't be helping the single mom with MS who was nearly beaten to death by her ex with more than $700 a month (TOTAL)? That the 30 year career nurse who is living on their disability doesn't deserve more than $1300 a month(TOTAL)? I sit in my office and watch people with disabilities or who are able to have a job but can't find one cry because they can't afford to feed themselves because our country won't help them because the gatekeeping on the pitance our policy makers deign to spare them. If they do get a job, then they can't afford health insurance in the states where the governers were like "no we dont to accept the federal money for the medicaid gap BECAUSE PEOPLE WONT WORK FOR IT" - SHUT UP! SHUT UP!

You haven't watched how hard people will work. You haven't seen them show up for appointment after appointment with envelops full of careful paperwork hoping for something, ANYTHING, for help.

Welfare queens are mostly a myth. And the number of people who do abuse the system are so negilible compared to the people who really need help are almost non-existance.

If people would accept raised taxes on, idk, anything, we could help fix this. The money exists. The rich don't (not people who make 6 figures - I'm talking 8+) do their goddamn part because they're selfish and they don't care if people suffer and die. They just fucking don't. I'm tired of pretending it's a question of principles. It's not. There are people in need and the people in charge care more about their personal wealth and greed than human life. The fucking end.

I am bitter and I am fucking hostile because this is fixable. The money exists. The potential exists. The people who could fix it are just to selfish, greedy, self-centered, and uncaring to fix it.
