As a multi shipper I have no horse in the race and can tell you that yes, ALL shipping combinations in this fandom have horrible fans
And why the hell does every anime fandom I'm in NOT KNOW OR CARE about not tagging hate? So much wank could be avoided that way! Or I see posts going "I'm feeling confrontational today so I'm posting this in their tag hahaha! *hate ramble hate*" every freaking time I go into the tags (after which I don't go there for weeks).
This fandom feels like a freaking kindergarten and I'm starting to feel really old.

I do agree with OP that the Rinharu side of things has been really bitter for a while (partly for understandable reasons, partly for silly 'my imaginary ship is better than your imaginary ship' silly reasons) and I do have seen more nasty people there than in the other fandoms BUT that can be purely coincidence and there are a lot of nice shippers too... No one can really sit on a high horse there. Not even the rarepair shippers. It's a really weird fandom.

Could be a problem specific to Tumblr. Back in the days this could have been avoided by trashtalking your NOTPs within the privacy of a locked LJ post, or at least on a ship-centric community. Obviously wank still erupted when people decided to go on the warpath, but still, why do I get the feeling nowadays a lot of people just don't even care what or how they tag their posts? When Steve/Bucky started gaining popularity and usurping Steve/Tony (to my vindictive glee), I was really disappointed to go into the tag and find fellow fans expressing said glee and tagging the posts 'stony'. Then they have the gall to act shocked and offended when they get hate. This is just obvious shit-stirring behavior, why is it hard to understand?
