(Anonymous) 2015-12-06 05:36 am (UTC)(link)You can have a female character in a sexy outfit that's still somewhat practical. Look at Catwoman in TDKR or Black Widow in the MCU. Yeah they're wearing skintight leather catsuits, but they're still covering the body and providing that layer of protection (and in Black Widows case she's wearing practical boots). Even Harley Quinn in the DCAU wore a full body suit and flats, and she still manages to be sexy.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-06 06:15 am (UTC)(link)And while that's true about her male counterparts, it's a bit of false equivalency. Deadshot has almost always been depicted in armor and such. Harley's male counterpart is Joker, and if you havent noticed, he's running around in a trench coat and shirtless which is just as impractical as what SS!Harley is wearing.
Like again, I get the complaints (fucking HEEELS), but i feel like people sometimes want to get on their high horse while ignoring the fact that honestly, it's not that huge a departure from actual Harley or out of the question she would wear.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-06 06:45 am (UTC)(link)Like as you pointed out, Catwoman and Black Widow both wear skintight suits implicitly made from some kind of protective material. Why couldn't Harley have something similar, like a skintight leather catsuit with the black and red patterning? Or some kind of protective headgear with a design like the jester cap? They've figured out ways to make iconic superhero costumes work on film before, surely they could do the same with her.
(granted I think the film looks godawful so that may be coloring my perceptions)
