Re: Kind of based on #2

It only bugs me when it's unrealistic, and that can be in several contexts:

1. Swearing that sounds like it was thrown in because the writers were trying too hard to make the characters cool and edgy. A pretty good example of this is the movie Juno.

2. Swearing that sounds like it's inappropriate for the character. Can't currently think of an RL movie example, but having ...say... Batman or Captain America using strings of expletives for no apparent reason.

3. Having characters who would reasonably be prone to verbal ejaculation abstain from swear words. A good example of this is EVERY PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN MOVIE.

Hoping for someone to drop the phrase "Goddamn Batman" in BvS.

Well, see, that would have precedence so I would find that hilarious.

I'm sorry but I think Steve Rogers would absolutely swear on occasion. The "language" joke in AoU felt terribly wrong.

... I still haven't seen AoU (we decided to see Mad Max in theatres instead after the initial bad reviews and I have yet to see anything that makes me think this wasn't a far superior decision) but Steve Rogers was in the military. Specifically, he was with ground troops. There is no fucking way that swearing would bother him, or that he'd be the sort to never, ever swear. Not that everyone in the military swears as punctuation but, look, there's situations where even my mother, who dislikes typical swearing and considers it less than creative, will let out a "fuck". I can't imagine Steve Rogers being any different.
