Wait... but you just said POC? That's... not an ethnicity.

There are darker skinned cultures in Japan that have been there a long, long time (Okinawans, Ainu) and would be a welcome addition to historical anime. These people are ostracized and exoticized and wishing they were more present in anime is totally legit. But yeah there's not going to be Latinos in like... Inuyasha or something.

Eh, the Japanese Brazilian community is significant enough that some media presence would be perfectly realistic.

I misread the secret to mean that they meant a historical anime, as in an anime that takes place a long time ago (hence using Inuyasha as an example).

I agree that non-Japanese POC would not be out of place in a modern anime, or at the very least, more hafu characters. You do see them occasionally (i.e. Eli from Love Live), but not very often.

It's a relevant term to every single white-dominant nation, sorry to say.

Europe's racial history isn't as dissimilar from the US's as Europeans like to pretend it is. In fact, a lot of the problems in the US started in Europe.

But in the context of this thread, you are talking about Japan. Japan isn't a European nation, and it sure as fuck ain't white-dominant.

That's why I asked if it would or would not be used to refer to Japan's ethnic minorities? Because since Japan ISN'T white, I didn't know what terminology would be used for that.

Racial minorities, ethnic minorities, (in a Japan-only context) non-Yamato people, something else that isn't POC.

(And Europa =/= USA. Pretending that groups like Romani fall perfectly into the POC category is rather ignorant)
