What happened to the maid and the butler in the movie "The Sound of Music"? Were they able to leave Austria or not?

Sometimes I wonder what happened to minor characters in movies.

They got shot by the Germans. Collaborating with resistance, even by mere association, is a serious offense.

Who shot first? Han or Greedo?

I think the real truth there is Lucas doesn't remember.

haha truth. Well, more like, he's constantly changing and altering things, so everything is simultaneously true and not true, depending on the point of time you ask.

They're not real people. Neither of them ever shot anyone/

Only Han shot. Greedo was too busy being dead for there to be a second shot.

Was it a good idea for me to start Psycho Pass?

I hated the ending, but I have to concede that it's well-written. If nothing else, it'll give you something to argue about.

I thought it was boring and when

[SPOILER?] it turned out that one super scary dude was actually *GASP* an enforcer himself once, the show lost me. Less predictability, please. [/SPOILER]

but it's been ages since I started watching a couple of seasons.

Need Help With Christmas Gifts!

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2015-12-13 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
As in what to tell people to buy me. They won't do gift cards (they need to get me at least one physical thing). It is probably best if it is on Amazon.

I like Marvel. I am getting into baking (just got a kitchenaid mixer). I like reading. I like functional knick knacks.

I am just having a hard time finding stuff by typing "captain america" into amazon. :

I don't know if you can get these in the US, but in the UK we have a series of handbooks called the River Cottage handbooks. There's a bread one and a cake one and both have excellent advice in.

I found them on Amazon! They got great reviews so I added some to my list. Thank you.

Amazon has tons of cool baking stuff. If you don't already have them, maybe a good set of cake pans (loaf pans, muffin tins, pie pans, etc.) and some spatulas? Wilton is a decent brand, as is Chicago Metallic. With bakeware, you want sturdy stuff.

I've looked at their stuff but I don't know what would be good for beginners. I got a lot of basic stuff like rolling pins, pastry cutters, etc.

Tell them to not bother and when they see something that is perfect for you and it happens to be in the middle of June, call that a Christmas present?

It sounds like you want something that has use to it (such as a mixer and knick knacks. Is there a cookbook you are interested in that could serve that purpose? Mixers don't have to be just for baking (at least that's what I've been told, I once tried to make mashed potatoes and that didn't work out too well).

Hm, are you the person that has worked on working out and exercising? I'm sorry if I got you confused with someone else, but I would recommend something geared towards that. Foam rollers are great to roll out the kinks. All stress reliever balls or even a simple small tennis ball or soft ball to squeeze is great for the hands. Though I think I've read you can use the balls as mini foam rollers for the feet or something. Maybe they make Captain America stress reliever balls...

Do you have a good set of mixing bowls? These are my favorite to use with baking because they're super sturdy and they have lids so I can put the dough in and stick them in the fridge.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FBUMLQ?keywords=pyrex%20mixing%20bowls&qid=1450054591&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1

Baker's Secret is a brand of pans I like (they're affliated with pyrex and corelle) Wilton is also good, but here are some sets. I LOVE my 9x13 pan with lid on top. You have no idea how absolutely handy it is to have that.

For Marvel stuff, do you want clothes? heruniverse.com is a good start, I have a Dalek dress from them that I adore. Or try thinkgeek and see if there's an amazon similar product.

Hope this helps and I LOVE baking so feel free to bounce ideas off of me.

You like Marvel. Do you like space opera? Kelly Sue DeConnick's recent Captain Marvel run (Carol goes to space, basically) is pretty fun, and comic shops should have the trades.

I think it's called "Higher, Further, Faster, More." Captain America's not in it, but Rocket Raccoon is a little bit.

So I've been feeling frustrated about being back in the closet. And I started thinking about writing a fic about this fictional character who has to hide who he is for a period as a cathartic exercise. The thing is, the character is a villain. And their inner thoughts are going to be pretty dark. I don't relate to that part, just the hiding yourself from your family part. Is there something weird about this idea?

Re: Questions

(Anonymous) 2015-12-14 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think so there's anything weird about it. To me, it sounds like a good way to make your villain somewhat relatable - meaning that while we (hopefully!) don't agree with everything the villain thinks and does, the best villains do have human feelings and reasonings. Sounds like an interesting exercise to me!

I don't think there's anything weird about that. If it's cathartic, it's cathartic.

I'd just like to express my sympathy for you re: your situation. That sucks & I'm really sorry you're experiencing that right now.
