Artificial Humans
(Anonymous) 2015-12-15 12:57 am (UTC)(link)Usually with robots/androids/artificial humans, there's a fear that they'd take away jobs from factory workers or others working in similar jobs. Do you think they could also replace humans in the entertainment business such as actors, models, etc. This is assuming they're able to replicate emotions and look fully human.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-15 01:03 am (UTC)(link)I think those will definitely have fan followings, but I have a hard time seeing robots completely overtake human performers and entertainment artists. Robots are cool because "ooh technology" but once you get over that, a robot will just never be as interesting as a real person, or very interesting at all for that matter. And hey, fans of celebrities love the drama of real humans, what exactly would you gossip about in regards to robots?

Producers would care about budget, but having a custom-made android might not be cheaper than a person, especially a lesser known actor.
Re: Artificial Humans
(Anonymous) 2015-12-15 01:39 am (UTC)(link)Good point about the cost. Androids would be crazy expensive. Unless they're mass-produced or something.
I would still like to see a movie featuring only robots. Of course, with today's technology it'd probably be really creepy. Maybe as a horror movie.

Re: Artificial Humans
(Anonymous) 2015-12-15 04:57 am (UTC)(link)Robots being "easier to work with" isn't really something we can discuss because those robots don't exist yet. Presumably they'd be expensive. And how would you program them to react a certain way, conveying certain emotions? I think it'd be tough. Their expressions would probably be modeled after real actors/models. Plus, they'd probably need active programmers, maintenance, charging.. so there are a lot of hypotheticals here.
