Isn't Disney planning to make a movie about two princes? I'm not saying this ship will happen, but I also don't buy the "Disney would never do that".

I don't think you should feel dumb about it. The rumor was pretty wide spread and thousands of people bought into it since it became removed from its original context. Plus, the article really missed its mark as satire

I kinda figured it was. I think we'll get a same sex romance in a Disney movie eventually but I really don't think we're there yet.

Eh, let's put it this way:

"Disney won't do that for a long, long time."

The most explicitly gay character they've ever had is Pleakley from Lilo and Stitch. Over the course of the first movie, the subsequent movie, the TV series and the final "made for TV" movie, he and Jumba went from reluctant partners to best friends to a de-facto "aunt and uncle" for Lilo, and Pleakley had an episode that was a blatant allegory for coming out as gay to his parents, in which he's afraid to admit that he doesn't want to get married to some girl from back home and that he likes wearing earth women's clothing. He also nearly gets married to Jumba as part of the farce, who for his part seems pretty damn nonplussed about the whole thing, even griping at one point when the wedding is interrupted.

But still, even though Pleakley is gay-coded so goddamn hard it hurts, Disney still has an issue with pulling the trigger and calling it what it is, or showing romance between human (or humanoid) men or women.

The original show really pushed the bromance between Corey and Shawn though. Topanga actually said that she knew Corey loved Shawn more than her. They're still doing it even in the new show.

I actually haven't seen the show in question so unfortunately I can't comment. :( Although I will note that queerbaiting probably applies in this case. As long as show creators are afraid to label same sex intimacy as explicitly romantic and/or sexual people will argue until they are blue in the face about why such-and-such character(s) isn't gay/lesbian/bi, and tell you how you're just a gross fujoshi/fudanshi/slash shipper/femmeslash shipper and you're injecting "the gay agenda" into everything and "how come two men/women can't have a close friendship without you people seeing disgusting gay undertones to things OHMYGAWD".

Live action Disney channel series Good Luck Charlie a pair of lesbian mothers, and ABC family, which is owned by Disney, is one of the most lgbtqia friendly networks on tv.

I wouldn't totally outrule it.

There's also Ryan in High School Musical (at least 1 and 2). I heard a rummor that he was going to have a photo of Zac Effron in his locker for 3, but Disney nixed that one. But as far as I remember, everyone involved agreed he was gay.
