Well, I think she's been over the guy for a long time, actually. Apparently this album is what producers thought would sell. She says she wrote a whole very different album and discarded it as uncommercial. Maybe she's gotten typecast, and that's a shame.

I still like Hello, but this is why sometimes I like certain songs and not albums in general. Like with Muse, where I feel if I listen to too many songs I'd get irritated due to sameness. *

I haven't listened to enough of Adele's stuff to know if this applies to her (it very well might, but I do like the songs I know) but I kind of feel you on the sameness. It isn't even that I hate it or get irritated by it, but after a while you need a break because the songs all start running together, lol.

I like Muse, but think a lot of their stuff has a similar sound to it. The same goes with lots of other bands/artists I enjoy.

I don't know how samey her albums are since I've just heard her singles but I've got a few bands/artists where I have to break up the songs otherwise they just bleed together. It's usually because they have an particular sound which they don't deviate from much and because it sells they have no real need to.

I still like them but yeah, can't listen to the albums back to back.

Can't comment on the album but even if it sounds samey I like that she can sing very well, and that she surrounds herself with enough talented people that she can produce a few catchy songs. Pop music from my country is very crappy and full of untalented people, and most of the imported foreign music on the radio is crap as well, so I'm glad she exists.

I'm not a huge fan of her, myself. Her music just doesn't appeal to me.

That said, I don't think people always write songs about their own experiences. They can write songs about things they've never actually felt, or that they think will resonate, or that they think will sell.

I have no idea who she is singing about and I don't care. She does have a good voice, and she is talented, but her songs are for the most part, super boring. I liked Rolling in the Deep and Set Fire to the Rain, but Hello, for example, is a total snorefest.

I actually enjoy ballads and slow songs, so it's not even that. Most of her stuff is just totally droll.

I'm also tired of people undermining other talented female artists to prop her up.
