I think the comparison would work better if the existing state of representation for POC and white characters were comparable.

Honest question here: for instance, Asians are more underrepresented than Blacks in Hollywood movies. Would you be okay with an Asian actor playing a Black character?

I think it'd be better than a white actor playing a black character.

I don't think it would bother me much, honestly.

For some reasons SJWs don't care about Asians for some reason.

It's just something that people who hate SJWs and social justice in general say. They seem to forget the complaints about the whitewashing of that Airbender movie or Scarlett Johansson being cast in Ghost in the Shell or the whitewashing in that canceled Akria movie.

Honestly I'm just tired of the SJ rhetoric being All Black All The Time. More representation for Black people is great! I'm on board. But they still have infinitely more representation than...basically every other racial minority, and it makes me sad that no one seems to even care.

This is such a weird comment to me, since most of the whitewashing controversies I can think of have involved Asian or Native American characters: The Last Airbender, Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily, the Ab Fab movie, Scarlett Johnasson in Ghost in the Shell, Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan Noonien Singh, and Johnny Depp as Tonto.

It's been close to fifty years since Montalban first played Khan and thirty years since he reprised the role in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Amazingly enough, there are going to be people--many of whom weren't even born yet when Montalban was playing Khan--who think that we can and should do better at casting South Asian actors to play Indian characters now, regardless of how actors were cast in the 1960s.

But race-bending is an ok if it's for diversity points and it's better than creating non-white characters from the start because... REASONS!
