:O But what happens if you fail them?!

Not my favorite (I just love Emma Thompson too much), but I do wish there had been more non-platonic love stories.

That's a strict resolution, do you have wiggle room on the "every day"?

I get not liking it, but really? Most overrated movie?

Happy birthday, approximately!

I am going out to NYE shortly. Very casual. I always hear about people who have formal-attire mixers for NYE, and wonder what that's like. I know I'd probably be cold.

My sister has turned up the weekend, so I assume we will finally be seeing Star Wars. Not much else. Yesterday was a friend's birthday, so we all went out to High Tea. It was very fancy.

Achievable goals I would think! Self improvement is a slow process but you can only try :)

Well done on your weight loss! I lost the last 5kg of my goal in 2015 so now I want to just tone it up some more

Good luck on the debt!

+1

I understand Rey in The Force Awakens has been really importand for a lot of girls and young women, but at 36 I found Fury Road far more empowering.

Lol, summer for us so it's no hardship! I will be amazed if anyone's tradition on FS is doing it in winter. That's some guts

I agree with everything said so far (glad to see Hannibal ladies mentioned! Bedelia is one of the best characters in Hannibal), but feel I should add Lucy Lawless since... You know. (You got the idea of this thread from that repeated Xena secret, right? Lucy will always be one of the first people to come to mind when I think badass.)

Lucy Liu and Ming-Na Wen too.

I feel like there are a ton I can't think of atm...

Mine was also Mercedes Lackey! Though, for me, it was her romances, as I tend not to like that genre, but I like hers. (...Some of them.)

For the past 8? years, the family of one of my friends has had a NYE party. I'm going there very shortly. Nice to almost always have a set plan for the holiday.

My family one is that you gotta begin the new year with new underwear. This apparently goes back to my mom's childhood. I dunno, it's a tradition! So I got me some new underwear today.

AYRT Yeah, the dialogue was even worse.

Post cute things or things that cheer you up please

Everything's awful and I feel like shit.

Thanks!
ginainthekingsroad: Walter's flights of fancy; Astrid eyeroll (Fringe- Walter & Astrid (Story Time))

contains Fringe spoilers!

[personal profile] ginainthekingsroad 2016-01-01 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
I love "Brown Betty" because Walter's story actually sort of comes true. Walter says that only his character and Peter's character can have the glass heart; without it, the other will die. This is the Redverse's idea that only one universe can survive, and they're trying to make that universe be theirs.

And Ella changes the end of Walter's story and makes them share it, which is reflected in the end of S3, where they create the bridge and it's healing the Redverse. There's so many references to past things and hints at what's to come in "Brown Betty" that it's practically a microcosm of Fringe S1-3.

Aside from all that, it's an unusual take on the musical episode thing and succeeds rather well at that. I'm just annoyed Blair Brown didn't get to sing.

AYRT If you're setting it in my little town, there's one non-white person and her two mixed-race kids out of 1100 people. So it's possible to do realistically, but it really should be a statement about the place, not just "neutral"!

(Anonymous) 2016-01-01 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Ahh, I miss those too. :o
