You realize, though, that it seems like Han and Leia had been apart for quite some time. There could have been some in the Resistance that didn't even know that. And those that did may not have been there.

And I think Chewie was having his own moment alone. :C

And even if she only knew Han for a few days, Rey had struck a chord with him, which leads me to whole beliefs that he knew who she was, or whose she was, and why Leia reached out to her. Cause if my beliefs are true, Rey and Luke are her only family left that actually gives any sort of damn about her, even if Luke is feeling sorry for himself.

It was a hollow, meaningless connection though. I like Rey, but she should have been in the background. Leia and Chewie should have been surrounded by the people who cared about them. They are the people who loved Han. We as fans know who loved Han. We loved Han. Trying to force us to push the grief moment onto a character it doesn't belong to...hmm, this is reminding me of Star Trek Into Darkness where JJ Abrams tried to recapture the emotions of the iconic Kirk/Spock death scene except he did it with characters who barely knew each other and didn't have a decade of intense friendship between them. Hollow. Meaningless.

JJ Abrams doesn't understand storytelling. That's why he spends so much time stealing plots from other people.

Agreed about Chewie. He wasn't up for comforting anyone else at the moment.

And yeah I'm not sure if they were married? If they were they weren't super close. They definitely seemed to have a stormy, on-and-off relationship over the years (which I honestly like a lot with their characters) so people might have been really uncertain about whether she wanted comforting.

Rey comforting her was not at all out of place IMO. She saw someone was hurting, and she wanted to help, and I think Leia's pain resonated with Rey as well considering it's implied that her family (or whoever she understood to be family) basically abandoned her. It's not actually that weird to have two people who don't know each other well comfort each other in a time of emotional vulnerability.

tl;dr I agree with your comment

except I personally don't really headcanon that Rey is Luke's daughter, though I wouldn't be surprised if that ended up being true

Han and Leia were married. It's in some guide or something.
