It was a hollow, meaningless connection though. I like Rey, but she should have been in the background. Leia and Chewie should have been surrounded by the people who cared about them. They are the people who loved Han. We as fans know who loved Han. We loved Han. Trying to force us to push the grief moment onto a character it doesn't belong to...hmm, this is reminding me of Star Trek Into Darkness where JJ Abrams tried to recapture the emotions of the iconic Kirk/Spock death scene except he did it with characters who barely knew each other and didn't have a decade of intense friendship between them. Hollow. Meaningless.

JJ Abrams doesn't understand storytelling. That's why he spends so much time stealing plots from other people.
