I completely agree about Brennan. I used to like Bones until her attitude started annoying me too much. How does someone with an anthropology background have such apathy for the basic idea of understanding how people behave?

I'm the opposite. What made me give up on Bones was how Booth was always proven right and Brennan was always wrong. Yes, she was often clueless on social cues and basic behavior. But it was clear on the show that she was clueless in that way. And she always had to learn to change whereas Booth was always right. Emotions were always shown to be superior to logic. It got old after a while.

I can agree with that. I wanted to like Bones, I just didn't think her character made much sense. But that doesn't mean I'm behind the way the dynamic between her and Booth evolved.

Because she's written dumb to make Booth look good.

Well yeah but a good in-story explanation is always nice to have too.

I feel like that's kinda the POINT though, because she views all that behavior, no matter the culture, from the perspective of an outsider. No matter where she is, she's going to have to view things from a scholarly point because it's the only way she can connect with them.
