That's maybe a little petty of you, but there's no denying fandom in general doesn't seem to have the same sense of community it used to have. How much research did you do on your own, though? I don't know about LOTR fandom, but I tend to ignore PMs asking questions that people could've found out on their own if they'd made the effort. It's nothing personal, I just don't have the time to be someone's personal research assistant and prefer not to encourage such behavior.

It's a pet peeve of mine when people ask info and expect random strangers will take hours to do the work for them, when everything is online.
