Actually, I can think of one reason they didn't respond which has nothing to do with the things you mentioned. If they're on tumblr or other sites, they've gotten used to people spamming or trying to scam them. On tumblr there was the fake girl trying to do something for a video game, the virus one with people trying to have you click on ads and so on.

I know even on FFN there were some weird people who'd PM you to try and get you to do semi-shady stuff. In fact, I just had a random spam comment I had to delete on AO3 today.

So maybe you unintentionally came off like Erica the video game designer?
