Weekend Plans!

I'm going to see a late showing of The Revenant tonight* with my sister. It is a Director's Suite so I will also be eating some kind of delicious food as well. Some time this weekend I am going to attempt to decorate cookies so I can decide whether or not this is something I want to invest money in (any recs for beginner icing for piping would be awesome). Other than that, chores and such during this cold, dreary weekend.

What are you all doing?

*So replies will be slow (2 hour drive there and back) or come very late (I won't be home until 2ish).

I wanted to make tangerine granitas but the recipe calls for 14 egg whites and what the hell could I do with the yolks outside of 3 months' worth of mayonnaise?

It's my birthday, so drinking like I don't want to live.

Only downside is I'm going Iceland next week, and had a load of sudden housing etc expenses come up, so it's going to be comparatively budget.

I've been trying to think of plans, but it's raining and will rain all weekend and I don't like going out in the rain. I might just stay home and write/watch 'To Kill a Mockingbird' on Netflix. It'll make me dissolve into a puddle of sadness, but eh.

Have fun at the movie! I've never heard of a director's suite but it sounds pretty boss.

This weekend, I'll be culling my closet (part III, revenge of the wardrobe) and rewatching Hannibal. I'm on episode 3 - Italy arc (yaaay, homoeroticism!).

Grandma is in the hospital, and she's 91. So I'll probably spend a lot of time there.

We're close in that she lives in my town and I do my best to be a dutiful grandchild, visit her as much as possible, joke around with her, make her laugh. But I don't know. I'm also just always aware of how old she is, and for the past few years she's been struggling more and more. Of course I love her and I hope everything is okay... but how do I explain it? It'll seem "natural" if she doesn't make it, too.

I'm going to try to see if I get some time to shop a bit tomorrow before going to a birthday party for a 2 year old. Other than that I will probably just clean my flat and relax.

Tonight I baked gingerbread cookies in Star Wars and Doctor Who shapes to take with me to a friend's tomorrow and I'm spending the weekend at her place just hanging out. I'm really looking forward to it. But errands first tomorrow morning (bank and library)

I want to finish making the bingo cards using Adinkra symbols that I'm doing for African Heritage Month (it's officially called that here, not Black History Month) at work (elementary school). We try to do some sort of contest each year--so this year I got crazy and decided to do this. I've got the card template made and the symbol images, I just need to label them and then actually put them into the template to make the cards. I also have to collate the information about the symbols for the classroom teachers, so they can explain them to the kids if they'd like to. With the amount of work that's going into this, we'll be doing a bingo for the next couple years, I think. I've had to arrange it so only two cards will win--but the cards will be randomly assigned to classes so I won't be choosing who wins, specifically.

I also need to create a logo for our school's new diversity club that will be starting in February. I volunteered for it since of the four staff involved, I'm the only one who could make something that didn't involve using MS Word and clip art. (Seriously, our principal made our new school wide logo using word and clip art...it's really not as good as she thinks it is). I enjoy doing graphics, so it'll be fun.

I'll probably end up going to my parents place at some point as my mum's comp crashed the other week and she had to send it to be fixed. Of course not all of her stuff was put back on it and she wants to download books from the public library to her Kobo e-reader and all that is now gone. Also have to go to the library tomorrow and pick up a couple items I have on hold.

More than likely, a lot of Guild Wars 2-ing. I just finished the first chapter of my character's Personal Story and she's level 17 right now. Maybe if a friend of mine is on we'll have team-up adventures.
