Realized today that part of why my aunt's OBSESSIVE Super Mom thing with her only biological child (she's got four much older stepchildren) grates me so much is because of the kid she adopted and then sent back ten years ago.

I didn't realize that people did that (send back adopted children). That's so awful.

I understand why these laws exist--I mean, of course I do--but the situation OP is describing is either the perfect use of the law or a really gross one, depending on if this woman had her stepchildren (and/or biochild?) before or after she adopted and/or released custody of her adopted kid.

She and her first husband adopted him, and she sent him back at some point fairly soon after she married her second husband (the one with the four stepchildren). All this within the space of about a year.

Caveat: he MIGHT have been a foster kid (though from what I remember they actually adopted him). But yep, she did that, and nobody ever mentions it, but I suddenly feel WAY more justified in really disliking her. What a horrible thing to do.

JFC. I mean. She might feel guilty about that and is overcompensating now, but still... JFC. :(

Oh...oh my god. That's...wow.
