And that idea wasn't as accepted then as it is now.

Part of what makes having sex with a 15-year-old wrong now is that it's widely believed by society to be wrong, and we've now studied the brain enough to know that a 15-year-old is underdeveloped in some pretty key areas. In 1973, not only was it considered okay enough to have sex with a 15-year-old that Bowie and Page were able to be COMPLETELY OPEN about sleeping with this girl, even being seen with her out in public, but it was normal behavior for girls of that age to seek out those kinds of experiences.

It was a different time with a different set of social norms. From Lori Mattix's perspective, and from the perspective of society at that time, the sex was consensual.

That's just justification due to cognitive dissonance, not a true endorsement of moral relativism. I suppose AIRT might fall into that category as well.

Certainly when we've actually talked about moral philosophies, few rally to the banner of moral relativism.

Oh, I'm definitely on the side of moral relativism.

A rock star in his 20s having sex with a 15-year-old girl today would be a lot sketchier than Bowie having sex with a 15-year-old in 1973, because our society's perception of that kind of relationship has changed on a fundamental level. A rock star today would and should know better. But back then, it was not seen as a problem; the girls felt they had agency, and the broader culture viewed it the same way.

Because, see, that's the thing that people like you are completely glossing over: how your supposed "victim" feels about this. You actually given a shit about the woman involved? Why don't you trust her narrative instead of trying to force it to fit into yours? Why don't you trust the women who were her age during that time, who are saying that this is what they did, that they went out looking to do it, and that they had a blast?

You know the answer. The answer is that you don't actually care about them, how they feel, or whether they were harmed. You only care about your ability to use them as props. You are treating Mattix worse than Bowie every did, because you are insisting that she be a victim and be broken for you.
