Kinda cheekily glad that Star Wars didn't get many nominations. The butthurt on some of the blogs I visit is SO STRONG.

If anyone expected anything more than technicals, lol

Pretty much my understanding, yeah.

I was glad to see Star Wars got nominated for its score, even though John Williams probably has many of those little trophies already - but now I am a bit torn as I also love Ennio Morricone. Haven't heard the score for that film yet, but I'll have to check it out.

Yeah, I don't know. There's a lot of boo hooing about what did and didn't get nominated this year, but I mostly found it pretty fair?

My one beef was that Sicario didn't get more of a nod, but I think what it did get nominated for was pretty well deserved.

There's boo-hooing every year, and cries of fraud and favoritism and fixing! I haven't seen Sicario, but I heard that Emily Blunt was fantastic in it and a few people think she should have taken Jennifer Lawrence's spot as a nominee. I guess it can be frustrating to see the same actors appearing again and again (such as Jennifer Lawrence and Cate Blanchett), but sometimes that's the way it works out.

That being said, I don't think Vikander and Mara belong in the supporting actress category, but they were inserted there to give them a better chance of winning.

Also, I hope Bryan Cranston wins Best Actor. Just because I want another round of "poor Leo!" on the Internet.

looool but I do feel genuinely bad for poor Leo. Guy never gets a break.

Don't worry, he has his supermodels to dry his tears. And he's probably going to win this year anyway. But if he doesn't, I am ready for the internet explosion!
