Bad Service?

Have you had any frustrating experiences as a customer lately?

So we custom ordered my bridesmaid dress for my sister's wedding because I'm plus size and it is hard to find things that fit. Only the company, in spite of having my measurements, made the hips and waist too small, the dress too short, and the neck too high. My mother's dress from the same company was also not made properly. How do you get it wrong when you have the measurements? And isn't it normal to, if anything, have a bit of extra fabric so it can be taken out? There was nothing extra whatsoever so it is going to have to be completely remade.

How do you get it wrong when you have the measurements?

Ignore or misread them, then insist that the customer gave you the wrong ones, or else gained weight and grew several inches?

It has only been two weeks since I ordered, so I'm pretty sure I haven't gained weight and I'm sure I haven't grown.

IDK. Hopefully they'll remake or something. At least I think they have a decent return policy.

Maybe they accidentally sent you someone else's order.

Bluh. I hope they remake it for free without giving you any trouble.

They might have only had standard sizes and just wanted to pass one of those off as being custom.

Wow, that sucks. Hope there's plenty of time for the dress to be remade! (And that they either give you a hefty discount or do it for free.)

This is kind of petty but it irritated me. I went to get my phone upgraded and mentioned that I don't like Apple when the sales person brought up iPhones as an option, and she made me justify that. Which would be fine if it was a kind of "why don't you tell me what you don't like about them so we can find something that you do like", but instead she said something about how me saying that meant that people had been "telling me things", as though I couldn't have my own informed opinion on this.

That's the point where I would've either asked for a different sales person or gone to a different store; I don't need to justify my likes or dislikes to the person selling me the phone. But then, store reps are lying assholes (says the woman who worked at a call centre on a contract with Sprint--store reps were always lying to the customers and we'd be the ones who'd suffer their anger because we couldn't let them do what the rep said they could).

That seems like bad service to me. That's pretty rude. And not everyone likes Apple products and that's okay.

When I was getting my phone they tried to sell me an iphone even though I kept insisting I didn't want a smartphone because I couldn't afford it right now. I finally got what I wanted. But I don't get how hard it is for them to understand that not everyone wants the same thing or can afford it.

Haven't went phone shopping lately, but had a similar experience last time I went computer shopping and I have one particular relative who is obsessed with Apple products and likes to repeatedly mention how much better they are. That got old fast.

Re: Bad Service?

What's funny is her suggestion that you're some kind of sheeple because you don't buy Apple products. You would've been entirely justified in calling out her condescending remark and taking your business elsewhere.

Went to the hairdresser's today for highlights and a cut. I went to the beauty school because they are a lot cheaper, and I don't mind letting students have a go on my hair normally. But there was a girl who was just awful doing me today - not that she meant bad, but she went ridiculously slow, was constantly confused by her instructor's advice and basically every five minutes throughout both the highlights and the cut made a confused face and said "let me go check with my instructor". I don't necessarily mind that she was learning or being careful, but it ended up taking nearly four hours. When she was slowly cutting my hair, I am pretty sure doing each hair individually - and then grimaced and went to get an instructor - I finally said to the instructor that I needed to leave. I know I signed up for a student, but four hours, seriously? It's not like I was there for free. The price was a bit discounted but not enough for that shit.

I graduated beauty school years ago, but you could've been a client of mine back in the day, lol. You just have to be patient with students. Everyone learns at their own pace, and not everyone is so confident right off the bat when they're out there working on actual people. I'll grant you that four hours is a long time for a color and cut, but that is just part of the deal. Also, gentle encouragement for a student who is really timid/unsure of themselves goes a long way, or at least it did with me. :)

Oh maaan. I went to a beauty school recently and my cut took WAY too long, though not nearly as long as yours!!

I locked my keys in the car like a total dumbass while picking up something from the cleaners. I had to call my boyfriend and have him go get the spare car key from my apartment (never have I been happier that I gave him a spare apartment key!) and pick me up, but he was still at work, so I told him to pick me up from the hairdresser, which was across the street. I've been to this beauty school before and was able to get my usual routine done (wash, cut, dry, flat iron) in about the same amount of time (it takes an hour at a hair salon; it might have taken an hour and a half last time I went to this beauty school, which was fine) but this time it took an hour and a half just to do the wash and cut. My bf, who was already sacrificing time out of his day to pick me up AND take me to the car dealership (something we'd previously planned, and which he still did) was waiting outside, wasting gas to keep his car warm in the cold, and I finally had to tell them to just do it as fast as they could and skip the blow dry/flat iron.

The only reason I am even considering going back there is it was a $9 haircut, and the same thing at a salon would probably cost me four times as much, if you factor in the tip.

Needless to say I not only thanked my bf profusely but also bought him a pizza. Even though we didn't get to eat it til like. 9 PM. -___-

Wow, that sucks.

I've only had one beauty school haircut and it was a pretty favorable experience. They did take a very long time, close to 2 hours to take me from shoulder-length hair to a pixie, with lots of advising from the instructor because I don't think the student had ever seen a white girl with hair as crazy thick as mine. But I had budgeted basically the entire afternoon for haircut + shopping in the area, so I didn't really mind.

And my cute-ass haircut netted me a big pot of LUSH hair mask as a freebie with my purchase there. (They give away fresh products that are approaching expiration, usually face masks which are 2oz; this was a 5oz pot of Hair Doctor.)

Cashiers who can't bag groceries properly. Last week, I had a cashier pack two loaves of bread in with a heavy boxed item. I didn't say anything, but grabbed a bag from the next (empty) cash--they store them on the end--and put my bread in it. Today, at a different store, the cashier put two bags of rolls in with a stack of paper plates--and I had to ask for a second bag because the rolls fell out when I tried to pick up the bag. I know it's small and petty but ffs grocery stores, train your cashiers to pack groceries! (Note: I worked as a cashier for ten years--and I was taught what things you never pack together--and tbh, if they'd let me, I'd pack my own groceries.)

Re: Bad Service?

(Anonymous) 2016-01-20 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
While I agree, my pet peeve is when cashiers only put like one or two things in a bag. I hate the waste that plastic bags make, and I want to use as few as possible. I always have to specifically ask and remind, otherwise they'll use three times more bags than they need.

I have a habit of stacking things on the conveyor in a certain order that includes a fair bit of heavy items before light items, though I think the cashiers at Coles must get a bit of training about not packing light and heavy things together.
