Inspired by yesterday's secret, what are some friendships that you love but you absolutely cannot ship.

Mine's Legolas and Gimli.

Ron and Harry.

10 point to Gryffidor.

Kara and Winn on Supergirl. I prefer Kara with Jimmy. And Winn has just been really gross about the crush, particularly in the last episode. I'm really scared it is going to become canon.

Steve and Natasha. Though it is better than Natasha and Bruce, I still don't really like it. They work better as friends. Plus, Steve has a stronger friendship with a better basis for romance IMHO with Bucky.

Buffy and Willow. No. Also Buffy and Xander. Even stronger no.

Ron and Hermione. They are friends, but they work better as just friends for me. I really hate the whole bickering thing as a basis for romance. I just really hate bickering couples.

Any of the kid ships from Chrestomanci. I wish there was more gen Cat & Marianne fic, I think they'd be a great duo but I really can't see them as a couple.

I like Phineas and Isabella because they're written wonderfully, but I don't actually actively ship it. I used to headcanon Phineas as gay, but oh well. I'm happy with how Act Your Age ended.

I also don't ship most of the popular ships for Love Live, but I do ship them with other girls (I love Eli/Umi and Maki/Hanayo in particular), so that might not count.

Probably tons because I generally prefer friendships over romances, but one recently is Jessica/Trish from jessica jones. It seems to be pretty big, at least in the tumblr fandom, but I really prefer it as a deep sisterly friendship.

Donna and the Doctor. I think one of the reasons she is my favorite companion because she was not infatuated with the Doctor.

Steve and Natasha. Just...no.

The Doctor and Amy. I have no problem shipping the Doctor in general, but I don't like Amy with anyone but Rory.

Any combination of Buffy-Xander-Willow.

Roxas/Namine from Kingdom Hearts, (It's not technically canon at this point...) though to be fair that may be because I was 12 when I first played that game and that was during my 'everything must be slash' phase.

not that there's anything wrong with shipping it - it's just really not my default

Star Butterfly and Marco Diaz. It frustrates me because almost all of the fandom is Starco and takes as a given that it's about to be canon any minute, but I can't remember the last time I saw a close girl-boy friendship that was so blatantly free of ship teasing in canon. Even the one episode that had any was all done just so they could say "Actually, nope" at the end.

Scott and Stiles. Just a big ol' NOPE for me.

Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson.

Most of them, tbh. And mostly because like...why can't two people just have an intense friendship without it devolving into TEH SEX or whatever?

I hate that "friends" is usually just shorthand for "going to hook up later".

Peggy and Jarvis, they have an absolutely fantastic friendship but it doesn't work in a shippy way for me.

Trish/Jess, I love how close they are and how supportive they are of each other but it didn't grab me in a shippy-way.

Sam/Steve, I love their canon friendship and am looking forward to seeing them take down bad guys and kick-ass together, but it didn't ping for me as a ship.

I can't think of any others atm.

Uh...there are def some but my mind just blanked. :( Maybe I'll think of more later.

Scott/Stiles is first to come to mind, and I think a large part of that is because I see Scott as completely straight, and don't see him ever being sexually or romantically interested in Stiles even though he loves him more than just about anyone. Now Stiles, I feel like Stiles could have a crush on Scott (or at least did at some point), but I think he could 'get over' it.

Steve and Nat have already been mentioned, and I agree with that. Also Fitz/Simmons. (Started out kind of shipping it, but the longer that story-line went on the less I liked it.)

Mulder/Scully. I know, they're officially a couple. I even tried to ship them romantically, but my brain won't go past Friends With Benefits in this case.

Sherlock and John. I just can't ship them romantically. I like their friendship.
